Hip-Hop Be-Bop (vocal)
Hip-Hop Be-Bop (instr)
A progressively cutting edge feel, but desperately trying to capture the very 'Old Skool' Flava. A funky drum-loop over-driven and sfx'd with background sound-scaping, leaving lots of space for the MC to Big-Up the B-Boys and B-Girls...
Now this little baby is derived from a percussion loop i made a looong time ago, and always
knew Iwould use it one day. It looks like that one day is fast approaching tooo
Anyway, after some heavy processing and editing, the idea developed into an Old Skool Hip Hop
flava, and i really do mean old skool like kool kurt, whiz kid, you get the drift.
And the basis of the vocals were definately influenced by the roof is on fire vibe, but using
man parish phrasing.
It was also a pure co-incidence, that when recording the vocal, i subsequently over-drove the
gain, and after some fx prep, realised that only added to the authenticity of the vocal
hooks. In other words they sound a little dated. (vocals n sfx still to be added)
Another really weird thing here, is allthough the backing is extremely cutting edge and
'Cool' as they say, i definately DIDNT want the vocals to be cool, but merely to sound like
the Old Skool Days vibe. Sort of done on the fly, with no pre-empting.

And on adding the vocal and crowd sfx quite literally just by allowing the files on auto-loop, I now think this is the way to go. Very spontanious, very loose, with as little arranging as possible. This idea certainly seems to be leaning towards a less formulaic approach.
Njoy!
