Bass Drum keeps on ThumpinNow, for some time I had always been trying to come up with the foundations of creating another 'beat keeps on hammering a rythm in my brain' kind of vibey type track...
===
And it wasnt untill last weekend, while creating some more Percussion Loops to add to my Huge 'Wav-Central' Libruary, when one particular loop, consisting only of a thumping bass drum, and i do mean thumpin, suddenly caught my attention...
===
And as always happens when making percussion loops, i was immediatelly side-tracked to capturing another idea to a jam file for future ref. (ah, so thats how i work i hear you say) So
loop repeating indefinatelly, i plug rhe mike in and low and behold, the vocal hook i have been after for years comes out of no-where...
Listen to bass drum keeps on thumpin the singer===

Right, not a lot here eh! and allready something maybe? well after chucking this together, i was immediatelly happy with the lyrical slant AND the drum loop. But what drum loop!!!
===
Anyway, with no ideas at all, i just plugged in the Strat and made sure it was dryish and distorted. And bear in mind im not a great player, it is no more a tool to me as is my SL1200! After much jammin i limmit the file to this...

Now i really like this. Why? well i didnt for one minute think that with such an Organic background, and a cheezy poppy vocal hook, that a Strat would suite the idea, i just wanted to Jam. I am now convinced, that if i maticilously practice some riffs, i might actually sound good tooo, aswell as get a bloody good backing! And it still retains that cheez factor, but sounds just a little bit cooler, hmmmm.Right, finally a studio touch, using the compressor on HEAVY and QUICK to gain and drop the vocals with respect to the background and presto. An idea i developed while doing a remix a while back, but never found a home for it. Be warned tho, this is all a jam, and i have just compressed and not de-essed it at all, so it might be a little un-comfortable on the ears at hi vol...

Right, I have heard enough. I have capture the jam file for later date ref in case i decide to work on it some more, one of many i can tell you. Just one bass drum, one vocal hook, and a rough guitar riff, and allready the foundations are set. This is good, well, good enough to work on, after all, it still is only a Jam!!! (more to come)
